SOPA Blackout – Google, Wikipedia and WordPress join in the mass action

I’ve been stumbling around the web this morning to see which big sites are supporting the SOPA Blackout and came across a couple of examples. The introduction of SOPA could spell the beginning of the end of the web as we know it. Earlier this week, Reddit.com announced that they would be blacking out their site on January 18th. Since then, I’ve found that Google, Wikipedia and WordPress are showing their support against this bill.

Wimpy’s Braille Burgers

There’s been quite a bit of hype around Wimpy South Africa’s ‘Braille Burgers’. So I thought I’d find the clip and share it with those of you that have not seen it yet. The aim of the campaign was to let visually impaired people know that they offered braille menus in all of their restaurants. To spread the word Wimpy ‘built’ braille burgers that blind people could actually read. Awesome execution of a brilliant campaign.

I find myself wanting to ask some of my Facebook friends this on a daily basis when I see that they’ve clicked on one of the latest spam links doing the rounds. Anyway, this awesome infographic by Zone Alarm might help these poor souls. They have put together a few simple reminders to keep you safe on Facebook.

Bevan Small’s crazy cricket catch!

Sport serves up those awe moments from time to time and this was one of them. During the New Zealand domestic HRV Twenty20 game, Bevan Small takes an incredible catch while in the air and crossing over the boundary rope. But, before hitting the ground he throws the ball to Michael Mason who takes the catch.

Tim Howard’s wonder goal for Everton vs Bolton Wanderers

It’s not often you see a goalie score in a game of football, but it does happen on the rare occasion when they take a penalty or score from a corner in the dying seconds of a match. But, what Tim Howard managed to accomplish in the English Premier League match for his team Everton against Bolton Wanderers is what can only be described as something out of the ordinary. Receiving the ball on the edge of his own 18 yard box and hooving it down to the other side of the pitch only to see it bounce over the head of the opposing goal keeper and into the back of the net is more than likely something he will never accomplish again.

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
